Congratulations to Kayleigh Berthiaume Fox, Emily Galvin, Erika Kness-Knezinskis, Andrew Hostler, Kellen Chen (co-senior author), and Geoffrey Gurtner (co-senior author) on their publication in npj Biomedical Innovations. https://doi.org/10.1038/s44385-025-00046-6

This comprehensive review examines the cellular dynamics that drive both regenerative and pathological wound healing, with a focus on emerging tools that enable high-resolution analysis of wound biology. The authors discuss advances spanning traditional histology to single-cell RNA sequencing, spatial transcriptomics, and spatial proteomics, emphasizing how these technologies are reshaping our understanding of cellular heterogeneity, mechanotransduction, and fibrosis in chronic and acute wounds.

By integrating spatial and temporal multi-omic approaches, this work outlines a roadmap for improving mechanistic insight, diagnostic precision, and the development of targeted therapies for chronic wounds and fibrotic disease.
