Gurtner/Chen Lab Presents at World Congress of Biomechanics

The Gurtner Lab recently attended the 2026 World Congress of Biomechanics, joining researchers from around the world to exchange ideas and discuss the latest advances in biomechanics and regenerative medicine. The meeting provided valuable opportunities to establish new collaborations with international leaders in the field, while Dr. Kellen Chen reconnected with several longtime colleagues and collaborators.

During the conference, Emily Galvin represented the lab in the Three Minute Thesis competition and delivered an oral presentation highlighting our research on the spatial and temporal contributions of mechanoresponsive cells during the foreign body response to biomedical implants. This work advances our understanding of how mechanical cues influence the cellular response to implanted biomaterials and supports the development of improved regenerative therapies.
