For Patients

NIDDK Diabetic Foot Consortium

The six clinical research sites participating in the NIDDK Diabetic Foot Consortium will recruit participants who are undergoing foot ulcer treatment or follow-up care. Researchers will collect various measurements, biological samples, and other data over two years. At the University of Arizona, the Gurtner Lab clinical trial coordinators partner closely with the podiatry team at Banner - University Medicine to recruit eligible participants.

Diabetic Foot Ulcer Biofilm Infection and Recurrence

For Patients:

Have you recently been dealing with a wound on your foot? If so, you may be eligible to participate in a research study looking to explore the science behind your wound. Researchers from the University of Arizona College of Medicine - Tucson are seeking diabetic patients with a foot wound to better understand why these wounds re-open and if we can predict this occurrence before it happens. By being a part of the study, you may have up to four in-person clinic visits to complete all of the study-related activities.

For Family Members:

Are you currently caring for someone with a foot wound or do you know a person struggling with a wound on their foot? If so, they may be eligible to participate in a research study looking to explore the science behind their wound. Researchers from the University of Arizona College of Medicine - Tucson are seeking diabetic patients with a foot wound to better understand why these wounds re-open and if we can predict this occurrence before it happens. As part of the study, they may be required to have up to four in-person clinic visits to complete all study-related activities.

Financial compensation will be provided to accommodate the participant's time and there will be no financial costs to them for participating. If you’d like to learn more about how you or someone you know can be involved in the Biofilm Infection and Recurrence Study, please contact our clinical trials team, Fleur Maturo, fleurmartinez@arizona.edu, and Jose Vasquez, jrv3@arizona.edu.
