Maisam Jafri

PhD Graduate Student (Biomedical Engineering)

Maisam is a BME PhD student with a BS in Biomedical Sciences, certification and experience in multidisciplinary research, needs assessment, programming, fundraising, and suicide prevention. He is the Founding Director of a non profit organization that provides novel 5 stage water purification systems for areas in severe need for such a resource. While working at the National Institutes of Health and Undiagnosed Diseases Program, he honed his skills in rare disease diagnosis, advocacy, genome analysis, and pipeline development. Maisam has continued to present educational talks, developed webinar series, and host scientific conferences from the NIH to University of Arizona. He is the VP of Partnerships at Nucleate and is a co-founder of the Arizona chapter. His career goals are to synergize passions in science, medicine, engineering, and design to have the greatest impact on patient outcomes. Maisam is a research professional with the Gurtner Lab focusing his efforts on a deeper understanding of liver fibrosis resolution.
