Eamonn McKenna
Eamonn has joined the Gurtner/Chen Lab as a Fulbright Future Scholarship recipient from Brisbane, Australia. In Australia, Eamonn is a tissue engineering PhD candidate at the Queensland University of Technology focussed on developing an exciting combination therapy for Diabetic Foot Ulcers. Prior to undertaking his PhD, Eamonn completed a Bachelor of Applied Science (Biotechnology), Bachelor of Business (Marketing) – With Distinction, and Bachelor of Science (Chemistry) (Honours) – First Class. Through his research, Eamonn has developed experience and expertise in biodegradable scaffold fabrication, tissue culture, cell engineering, and developing smart devices for preventative health. Eamonn will use his Fulbright Future Scholarship to engineer novel methods to accelerate healing in diabetic and non-diabetic wounds.
In addition to his research, Eamonn is passionate about supporting breakthrough medical technologies through translation, capital raising, and commercialization.
