Gurtner Lab Members present at he Wound Healing Society (WHS) and Symposium on Advanced Wound Care (SAWC) 2025 Conference

The Gurtner Lab attends and presents at the Wound Healing Society (WHS) and Symposium on Advanced Wound Care (SAWC). We were grateful to contribute to this year’s scientific program through several oral presentations addressing key areas in immune modulation, mechanotransduction, fibrosis, and regenerative strategies for wound healing.
WHS 2025 provided an exceptional platform for knowledge exchange and interdisciplinary collaboration, and we are grateful to be part of a community committed to advancing the science and clinical care of wound repair.
Dr. Gurtner presented a talk titled “Characterization of Mechanoresponsive, Pro-Inflammatory Myeloid Cells During Fibrosis and Regeneration”. Dr. Chen presented a talk on the lab's worked titled “Characterization of Mechanoresponsive, Pro-Inflammatory Myeloid Cells During Fibrosis from Biomedical Implants”. Katharina presented her work titled “Pre-diabetes and diabetes downregulate pro-healing monocytes in mice and humans”. Abdelrahman presented his work titled “Transcriptional Analysis of Avenanthramides (AVN) and β-Glucan in Wound Healing”. And Kellen presented Maisam's talk titled “Diabetes Increases Fibrosis in Response to Liver Injury in Mice”.
Finally, Maria Gracia Mora Pinos was selected to present her work at the Young Investigator's Symposium titled titled “High-Fat Induced Diabetes Depletes Systemic Ly6C⁺ CD64⁺ Monocytes in Blood and Bone Marrow to Impair Wound Healing”.
The team is looking forward to attending the 2026 Conference!
